The Dangers of Sitting

The Dangers of Sitting!

Know The Dangers!
Spending too many hours sitting is hazardous to your health. You need to know the dangers of sitting.  Habitual inactivity raises the risk for obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, deep vein thrombosis, and metabolic syndrome.

Researchers aren’t sure why prolonged sitting has such harmful consequences, but one explanation is that it relaxes your largest muscles. Furthermore, when those muscles relax they take up very little glucose and raise the risk of insulin resistance.

Sitting also can increase pain, as it tightens the hip flexor and hamstring muscles and stiffens the joints themselves. This, in turn, can affect gait and balance making activities like walking harder. Plus this
contributes to lower back pain and knee stiffness. And older adults who aren’t active may be more likely to get osteoporosis, for instance.
